If you’re on your computer now, take a look at the keyboard.
Look at the top line. There are 12 keys that can make your life easier, but you’ve probably never used them or don’t know their purpose.
These are the “hotkeys”, from F1 to F12.
If you learn how to use them correctly, they can help you save time with a few simple commands in the browser or in different applications, such as Microsoft Word, where there are many shortcuts.
“Many users find that using an external keyboard with keyboard shortcuts for Word helps them work more efficiently,” says Microsoft.
“For users with visual or mobility impairments, keyboard shortcuts can be easier to use than a touch screen and are an essential alternative to using a mouse,” the company adds in its blog post.
On its website, Apple also defines some “F” functions.
By default, the Apple operating system associates these keys with “special functions”, which are indicated by icons on them, such as adjusting screen brightness, increasing or decreasing the volume.
But you can also use it for “quick jobs”. To do this, you hold down the function key (Fn) or the globe key while pressing the “F” that you want to activate. It’s especially useful if you use Word on a Mac.
But what are these “quick jobs” and what actions do they allow?
Here is a summary of some of them.
F1
In Windows, the Help menu opens. It also allows you to hide or show the Excel and Word options menu, as well as the Windows toolbar, if you press this key simultaneously with the Control key. [Ctrl + F1].
If you click F1 + Shiftyou will see the “View Format” task pane.
At Apple, the key is F1using the little flashlight icon, lowers the screen brightness, and in Word – and pressing Fn, as described above – cancels the previous action.
F2
Click on Alt + Ctrl + F2 This will immediately open the document library in Microsoft Office.
If you are in Word and use the shortcut CTRL + F2you’ll get a print preview of the file you’re working on.
In Windows Explorer, it allows you to rename a folder or file.
And if you are using Excel and you press this key, you can change the active cell.
If you are using Apple, F2 Increases screen brightness.

F3
the key F3 Used to open the search function in Windows Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.
If you also press this key at the same time as you press the key convertswill change the font case in Word to uppercase or lowercase.
On a Mac, enable or disable Mission Control, which provides an overview of all open windows.
And if you’re using Word on a Mac, the key F3 Allows you to copy the selected content to the clipboard.
F4
F4 It allows you to place the cursor in the address bar of the browser.
And to close a window, use this shortcut: Alt + F4.
If you’re using Apple, the F4 key lets you enable or disable the Launch Keyboard, an easy way to find and open apps on your Mac.
And when you use the express function in Word, you paste the contents of the clipboard.
F5
Do you want to refresh your web browser or the folder you opened? Try pressing F5.
If, in addition to refreshing the browser, you want to clear the cache (cached data), press Ctrl + F5.
If you are using Powerpoint and want to start your presentation, this is your key as well.
In Microsoft Office, it is used to open Find and Replace.
At Apple, it reduces the intensity of the light on the keys. And the shortcut in Word allows you to display the Go To dialog.

F6
In Windows, it is used to convert pages in a split screen in Word.
With control and shift [Ctrl + Shift + F6]allows you to easily switch between Word documents.
On a Mac, it brightens the keys.
Its quick job in Word, when accessed from an Apple computer, is to switch between the document, task pane, status bar, and menu bar — and it also embeds the different parts into a split screen.
F7
Need to check spelling and grammar in your Word document? If you are using Windows, try this shortcut: Alt + F7. If you are using a Mac, just press the key F7 (next to Fn, so that the “quick function” is activated).
And if you need a synonym and you are using a Windows PC, try Shift + F7 To access the thesaurus.
Apple users can also use this key to go back to the previous song in iTunes.

F12 increases the volume of the Mac speakers, but if you press Fn (function) at the same time, the express function assigned to this key will be executed
F8
If you are on Windows and press F8You can enable safe mode.
In Excel, enable Extended Mode.
And in Apple, it pauses or pauses songs in iTunes.
Similarly, with Apple’s Word, F8 is used to enlarge the selection. For example, if you select a word, the size of the selection expands to a sentence.
F9
This key allows you to send and receive email messages in certain applications.
If you are using Windows, in Word and next to Control [Ctrl + F9] It is used to insert empty fields. At Apple, it updates the selected fields.
Additionally, on Macs, it allows you to skip to the next song in your iTunes playlist.
F10
F10 allows you to highlight items in the active window. It also allows you to switch to another tab and use Windows access keys or cursors.
using the Shift key [Shift+F10], it opens the Windows context menu, which is the menu that appears when you right-click on the desktop or on a file or folder. Similarly if you are using Apple (but remember to press Fn at the same time).
Also used to maximize window in Word [Ctrl + F10]with a computer.
On a Mac, enable or disable sound.

F11
Need to quickly exit and enter full screen mode on PC? Just click on F11.
If you also press the key converts And you are using Excel, you can activate a new worksheet automatically.
If you have Apple, use this key to decrease the volume. And the quick function in Word allows you to move to the next field.
F12
To open the Save As function in Word, click F12.
You can also save the document directly, if you press this key at the same time converts Or open a document if you’re using it at the same time as Control.
If you try all three keys at the same time [Ctrl + Shift + F12]the print job will open.
If you use Apple, you can use F12 To increase the volume.
