The Warriors find the Finals by kicking out the Mavs!

For the sixth time in eight seasons, the Warriors will go to the NBA Finals. That night they beat the Mavs with sharp Luka Doncic, thanks to their collective strength. Draymond Green and Clay Thompson led the mission. Stephen Curry, who lacked skill, won the first Magic Johnson Trophy for the Western Conference Finals MVP. After two seasons in Purgatory marred by injuries, the Warriors are back!

Thus, they begin the meeting with seriousness, intensity, and continuous defensive activity to set the tone (14-5!) However, center Chase holds his breath as Stephen Curry twists his right ankle. Finally, the double MVP stays on the field, but that fear is cutting his team’s momentum. Despite Luka Doncic’s 2/10 in shooting, the Mavs limited the break thanks to their defense and award-winning shots from Spencer Dinwiddie at the end of the quarter (28-23).

Then Jordan Paul II passes. He scored seven points in two minutes but Galen Bronson, Spencer Dinwiddie and Davis Bertans continue to keep the Mavis in ambush. However, the Warriors insist, this time eight points away from Klay Thompson, boil in this first inning, which cracked Dallas (45-32)!

MAF then stubbornly attacked Nemanja Bjelica, in the rotation instead of Otto Porter Jr still absent, but the Serbian takes on the challenge. The Texans struggle to score, and Golden State’s defense allows the offensive to attack. After Paul and Thompson, it was Moses Moody’s turn to score seven consecutive points to end a 9-0 game that put Dallas in a difficult spot. In the second half, the Warriors lead by 17 points and the Mavs can thank Spencer Dinwiddy (17 points) who is trying to save the furniture alone (69-52).

One of the second half’s first possessions sums up this game perfectly. On one side, Luka Doncic who sees his passes roll gently around the circle lowers his shoulders and head as Draymond Green runs into the transition to provide 3-pointers on the plateau to Klay Thompson with a pass in the back (85-62). As Chase Center already sees himself in the NBA Finals, Luka Doncic wakes up and the tension builds. The Slovenian scored 10 points to shoot 15-0 which put Dallas back under the ten-point mark, before a throw-up from Jordan Ball stopped the bleeding (95-85).

The Poole – Green duo allows the Warriors to catch some air but the latter receives his fifth foul on the mobile screen. Golden State but two fouls on Spencer Dinwiddie held three points, and an award-winning shot from Luka Doncic allowed the MAF team to hang on (110-100). Four minutes before play, it was Kevin Looney and Andrew Wiggins who hardened Jason Kidd’s men by capturing several offensive rebounds that resulted in two award-winning shots from the “Splash Brothers” to push the lead to +16 (118-102). Then Jason Kidd waves the white flag and empties his seat.

No one expected the Mavs to be at this level this season but their great season ended at the hands of Golden State. The Warriors are winning the Series and Western Conference for the first time since 2019, and will have their land advantage to start the NBA Finals next Thursday!

What to remember

Golden State’s defense sets the tone. As in 6 vs Memphis, the Warriors rely on their defense to dominate the game. Behind the omnipresent Draymond Green, they limited the Mavs to 8 of 24 in the shots by doubling their efforts and closing off access to the circuit. Luka Doncic missed easy baskets, but Golden State’s defensive activity kept him at 2/12 on shots and imposed three losses on shots. The Warriors are also strict in their passing, leaving Frank Ntelikina alone on several occasions. And if the French player scored 2 out of 4 attempts from distance, then this is exactly what Steve Kerr players are looking for. Excluding ex-Nick and slick and aggressive Spencer Dinwiddy, the MAFS finished 11th of 33 shots.

– Klay Thompson – Jordan Paul – The Moses Moody trio make Dallas pay. The warriors made their efforts in the second quarter to take off, and it was carried by a three-headed monster. Jordan Bull began hostilities, before Clay Thompson took over, and it was apprentice Moses Moody who finished the job. The three defenders scored 29 of Golden State’s 41 points in this period, using all the attention Stephen Curry created to relentlessly attack the weak side of MAF’s defense. If we can anticipate the awakening of Klay Thompson and Jordan Ball, Moses Moody continues to prove he can bring his stone to the building. A blessing for warriors was overshadowed by the injuries of many players during their rotation.

The resounding awakening of Luka Doncic. In a tough match of nearly 27 minutes, Luka Doncic only needed 2+1 to regain his confidence. The Slovenian scored 15 points from his 32-point team in the third quarter, compared to 5/8 to resume the match. The Mavs scored 10 of 15 points in the final four minutes of the period to become 15-0 at the Warriors and revitalize his teammates. However, it will not have the same success in the last quarter.

– Critical offensive rebounds by Kevin Looney and Andrew Wiggins. Since the start of the playoffs, Kevin Looney and Andrew Wiggins have been impressed with their commitment. Their effect on offensive recoil is emblematic of this activity. The two players are also first and second in the supplement rankings in this sector. With four minutes into play, it was an offensive rebound from Looney that brought in a three-pointer from Klay Thompson to hurt the Mavs. One minute later, it was an offensive rebound from Andrew Wiggins that led to an award-winning shot into Stephen Curry’s corner to put the Dallas KO on their feet. The Warriors dominated Denver and Memphis in the offensive rebound, and ratified their qualification for the Final in the same manner.

✅ ⛔ Stephen Curry. The best player in the series lacked the title and scared the entire Dub Nation by spraining his ankle at the start of the match. He scored 15 points in 5 of 17 shots and provided 9 assists. His presence on the field opened the match for his teammates.

✅ ⛔ Luka Doncic. With the exception of the third quarter when he scored 15 out of 28 points, the Slovenian never found his rhythm. He finished 10 of 28 rounds and looked tired. His lack of defense also hurt the MAFS.

^ Galen Bronson – Reggie Bullock. The Mavs needed every second of their knives, but Jalen Brunson (10 points at 3/10) and Reggie Bullock (6 points) couldn’t bring in that spark that would have made the Warriors suspicious.
