Crack or not crack, that is the question. In fact, it is great to spend some tickets to be able to take advantage of Hundreds of video games again Sony PlayStation Plus. Is the game worth it? We give you some leads, to better understand the topic, depending on Your interest in video games.
We limit expenses, when we love a little
If you play video games occasionally, and are not a fan of online games, you can easily do without PlayStation +. All you have to do is buy some of your favorite titles of the year (maybe even sometimes, a few months after launch, to pay less for them) and that’s more than enough to have a good time. PS4 or PS5.
PS + Essential, when you love it so much
For regular players, the first level of PlayStation + may be more than enough. This has been around for a very long time and is kept in the new Sony show, now under the name Necessary.
For €59.99 per year (€24.99 for three months or 8.99 per month), you can play online with your friends, store what you’ve saved in the cloud and, above all, offer two PS4 and PS5 games every month. (Keep it for the duration of the subscription).
Games of all kinds, it is not always exceptional, but there are also very wonderful surprises, which make it possible to discover almost forty games every year. It’s a good initial settlement.
For example, the games presented in July are: Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s Time (Adventure – Family); The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan (horror – cinematic) and Arcadegeddon (cooperative multiplayer shooter).
PS + Extra, when you love with passion
with the Playstation Plus ExtraWe’re starting to address more seasoned gamers, and in any case a lot more content-hungry ones. It’s one of the new features in the new PlayStation Plus and it’s also our favorite.
You keep the same advantages as with the previous basic version (online game, games of the month, etc.), in addition, you can take advantage of a catalog of around 400 games (from PS4 and PS5) to download.
A whopping 400 games, and for once, there are really great games on the list, including: Marvel Spider Man (and Miles Morales), Returnal, Death Stranding, Demon’s Souls, Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, God of War, The Last of Us, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed Vahalla…
If the giant appears on the list, there are also notable absentees, such as the latest Gran Turismo 7, the absolutely beautiful Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, which is definitely one of the most beautiful games on PS5, or the awesome Horizon Forbidden West. One of the biggest criticisms we can make of the new PS+, compared to rival Microsoft’s XBox Games Pass, which shows huge hits once it’s released.
Definitely the cost of this offer: 99.99 euros for the year (39.99 euros for three months and 13.99 euros per month). It is a great opportunity to discover a large number of references.
However, even if this content looks gruesome, it will be less so for gamers who have been pestering the console for years. Some of them have already seen and reviewed a lot of these titles, many of them even already have them in the box version.
In the end, PS + Extra is a reasonable fun, on hand, a nice birthday or Christmas gift for example, for players tied to their console in search of richer and more diverse content.
PS + Premium, when you love madly
We climb another floor, with PlayStation Plus Premium. That’s the limit on the new PS +, but it’s also the most expensive version: €119.99 per year (49.99 € for three months or €16.99 per month).
For this price, you have the benefits of the two previous offerings, Essential and Extra, as well as a host of classic games available, released on PS One, PS2, PS3, and PSP.
This mod also gives you the ability to play a panel of streaming games (without having to download them).
It also allows you to play trial versions of some new games.
Enough is enough ?
Honestly, we find this Premium offering so huge that we almost end up getting lost in it and not knowing where to go.
There are plenty of titles out there, some that make you want to play them, others that are much less so. And there are some games that we thought were cult games but that, incidentally, took such a wrinkle when you replayed them that the urge to go back to them disappears pretty quickly.
After all, when we see that PS5 games are offered at 70 or 80 euros in a box today and we are always happy to replay old hits from previous PlayStation consoles, resorting to this formula is worth all the same reflection, for the most diligent gamers.
And when you don’t like PS+ at all
We’ll end with a good reason…not to get caught up in the new PlayStation Plus. A good reason for many gamers even today: as many of these games are offered, they are all available, by definition, in a non-physical version. In other words, we finished the game in a box, on the good old cake we love so much.
Here, we’re only talking about downloadable games, which are only there for the duration of your subscription. The day you quit, you lose your games. This system is the worst enemy of collectors, vintage gamers, who have dozens and dozens of packed toys, neatly arranged on their shelves.
PS One games offered with PS + Premium, they really threw it away and replayed on the “real” classic PS1…
We’ve signed up for the extra version
So, we must realize that Sony is revolutionizing its offering with the new PlayStation Plus, which is nothing but a way to align itself with the competition, especially in the face of Microsoft’s massive Xbox Game Pass.
As far as we are concerned, the add-on version actually looks very complete and reasonable to have fun.
The first games we’ll (re)download are Little Big Planet 3 and Slack, for the fun of replaying as a family; God of War, to get back into the mood before Ragnarok’s next action. And until dawn, which we wanted to do again, after our previous audition for The Quarry.
Not much either, because accidentally, the PS5 hard drive fills up quickly, if we already have Gran Turismo 7, NBA 2K22 and some other heavyweights installed!
