Golf clubs that can be rented from the casino supermarket in the city center and pink balls that can be bought from a gum ball distributor and go golfing around town. No need to fear for windows and passersby, the ball is resilient and weighs only 13 grams, versus 46 grams for the Pro model.

Originally, these balls were intended for golfers practicing on their property, without breaking house windows, verandas, greenhouses, vehicles, street furniture…and since then they have been approved for playing street golf.

The discipline, spread all over the world, was developed in the nineties in Berlin (Germany), in the same spirit as street sports: Bmx, skate park, basketball, street ball … The singer Orelsan is a fan of street golf and has previously shared these Practice in one of its sections.

In this version of golf, the grass is replaced by a course without holes, but with goals. A board, a door, a fountain, a gutter … “Touching the basket is good, putting the ball in it is a bonus!” ‘,” explains Eric Nguyen Khac, Deuillois in The Origin of the Course.

The captain of the France team proposed the urban golf concept as part of the municipality’s participatory budget and only his project was selected by the jury.

A 3-kilometer track with nine goals was laid out for this by the city’s technical services.

Equipment that did not require much work. Posts indicate the goal and mark on the ground the point of dropping the ball. The road also starts at the town hall and ends behind the church.

The urban golf course in Deuil-la-Barre has barely been launched, and is planning to expand beyond its grounds.

Redouane, 60, is a professional golfer from Val d’Oise, who tested the Deuil-la-bree course.

“It’s a solution to discover golf without risk and for the player, it’s the solution when he wants to prepare,” according to Christian, 70, a Soisy-sous-Montmorency player, member of Sports Retreat d’Enghien who managed to hit the fountain in two shots.

“The goal is to make golf accessible and almost free to everyone,” thinks Eric Nguyen Khak.

Deuil-la-Barre is the first permanent course in France. Futuristic urban golf courses should see the light of day in Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d’Armor) and Morlaix (Finistère).

Practice. 3 km, 9 goals

The Deuil-la-Barre urban golf course is 3 km long and can be done between 2 and 3 hours. It consists of 9 targets starting at the Town Hall, with the first stop at the Village Hall, then at the Victor-Labarrière Park before a long drive to the Jean-Bouin Stadium which has space for longer targets. The circuit continues via Parc de la Chevrette, Place Kennedy, Parc Winston-Churchill and up to Place du V2.
Equipment is loaned against an identification document and made available in the casino shop, rue Charles de Gaulle. Balls are purchased at a price of €2 directly from the distributor. Monday through Saturday 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM and Sunday 9 AM to 1 PM Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
