Ligue 1 Uber Eats the seventh day
Thanks to a superb second-half goal by Andy Delort, OGC Nice beat AC Ajaccio on behalf of the seventh day of L1 (1-0).
The spark came from Andy Delort in the second half. Thanks to a great acrobatic comeback after an hour, the gym won by the smallest margin (0-1) against the ACA. With this success, Niçois, authors of a good second half with more risk and movement, rise in the rankings and occupy the 12th place with 8 points.
Against Cologne last Thursday (1-1), Lucien Favre renewed his tactical system at 4-4-2 with the Laborde-Delaurte duo in attack. Three players are back in the starting lineup: Schmeichel is established in the cages, Bard in the left lane of defense and Pepe on the right side of the center.
Closed first period
From the start of the match, the Acéistes pressed Nice, like Touzghar’s header in the area blocked by Lotomba (1′). We had to wait about ten minutes to see the gym get the ball rolling. Then the inhabitants of Nice created their first dangerous situation. Labourde converted Sofiane Diop, who cleverly put his powerful foot in the penalty area, but Avenel’s right-footed shot for the 22-year-old was saved (12 minutes).
Faced with well-organized places, Rouge et Noir tried to find solutions. He still lacks rhythm and technical precision to worry Ajaccio, last in Ligue 1 but without complexity. Todibo was about to be surprised by Tozgar’s speed but the gym defender did not panic and was fouled as his boss (26 min). We had to wait until the 39th minute of the match to see the first shot on the goal of the match. Schmeichel easily grabbed Biala’s powerful attempt (39 minutes).
In the final moments of the first period, Niçois were playing higher and the light was almost coming from Delort. Diop was well served on the right side of the surface by Laborde, as Diop crossed for Bison Sète who perfectly balanced his body to arm a powerful right-footed ball but passed a few centimeters off the tire (45+1). Lucien Favre returned to the locker room with a tied score.
In the second half we had a more open game but the gym lacked efficiency, such a strong kick from the outside of Delort’s foot (54). The match drifted away an hour after being fired from deep by Laborde, Pepe hit with his left foot but Leroy went out and interfered against the Ivorian (60). A few seconds later, Idrissi’s long shot hit the crossbar (61 minutes).
Determined to get the three points, he cornered the Acéistes in their camp. More spaces, more movements, more accuracy. The Eglon family was heading in the right direction. And the spark will come from Delort. In the corner, Andy superbly controlled the ball with his chest after a header from Thuram, which was followed by a brilliant acrobatic return to the right foot that lifted Leroy. In the face of his former club, Delort, who showed elegance and respect, he did not celebrate his superb goal (0-1, 65).
Lucien Favre made his first changes to bring in new blood and maintain the advantage. Barclay and Boudawi played in the place of Delort and Becca Becca. Then the England international tested his first minutes in the Nice shirt in the league. And what a start! In the first ball, the former Chelsea player hit the post with a left-footed shot (70′). Barkley was in the guide again with a great sequence before returning to Laboard, who shot with his left foot from close range, but Leroy stopped the ball (71). In the final minutes of the match, red and black slowed down Ajaccio’s attacks. The gym was about to double the bet. After a fine ball from the omnipresent Barkley, Pepe’s attempt found the right post Leroy (87′). The score didn’t move and Nice took their second L1 win of the season.
Belgrade before Anje
Next Thursday (9:00pm), the gym at Partizan Belgrade will play during the second day of the Conference League before Angers hosts the Allianz Riviera next Sunday in the league (D8, 3:00pm).
